The Ground Reality
Farmers lost both their cash crops and their food crops.
Farmers had already spent money on seeds and inputs — often by taking
loans. With almost no rain, they lost
almost 100% of the Kharif harvest.
Normally, families earn around Diwali by selling soybean. This year,
there is nothing to sell and no income to fall back on.
With Diwali approaching, families have little or no money
in hand. This is a serious food and livelihood crisis.

In 2026, the monsoon failed. Her husband had borrowed money for seeds and inputs — like thousands of farmers across Marathwada. There was no harvest. There was no income.
